Women boycotted British goods\, produced home-spun cloth and supplies for soldiers\, and even took to the battlefield on occasion. This workshop\, led by Melanie McComb from American Ancestors\, looks at women’s role in the fight for American Independence and how to research your female ancestors during this period. The cost of this workshop is $40 for New Hampshire Historical Society members and $55 for nonmembers. Space is limited\, and registration is required. Known for his leadership\, courage\, and enduring patriotism\, Stark remains a symbol of the state’s deep roots in the founding of our nation. His legacy is perhaps best captured by the state motto: “Live Free or Die” — a motto General Stark coined — was originally part of a longer statement:“Live free or die\,for Death is not the greatest of evils.” \nNHSAR will conduct a formal commemoration ceremony at the Stark Statue located on the New Hampshire State House grounds in Concord. The program will feature remarks from members of the New Hampshire legislature\, as well as the reading of an official proclamation issued by Kelly Ayotte.
