Clarification on Medal Credit – From the Patriot Graves Committee
Per the Patriot Grave Marking Manual, Section 17, Paragraph 2:
“After 28 Sep 2018, an SAR Compatriot must contribute a minimum of $60 to each grave marking ceremony to receive credit towards the grave marking medal when the Nominee Role is identified as ‘Funding’. Documentation from the chapter president conducting the grave marking that the funding was for a specific ceremony must be included with the Grave Marking Medal application.”
While there has been some discussion within the Patriot Records Committee, the established practice is that a Compatriot may receive only one credit per ceremony, regardless of the number of patriots honored or the total amount donated. This means that even if your contribution covers multiple grave markers, credit is granted for participation in a single ceremony, not for each individual patriot.
