2026 New England District Spring Meeting

On March 28, 2026, the New Hampshire Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NHSSAR) proudly welcomed compatriots from across the region as host of the New England District (NED) Spring Meeting, held at Mercy House, Thomas More College in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Located in Nashuaโ€™s historic district, Mercy Hallโ€”once a private mansionโ€”now serves as a distinguished venue for lectures, educational programs, and special events. The meeting was graciously hosted by Compatriot William Fahey (NH), President of Thomas More College of Liberal Arts. Compatriot Fahey is also the author of the recently released book New Hampshire and Independence: Rediscovered Writings from the Sons of the American Revolution.

The New England District represents SAR state societies from Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. A total of 24 delegates, representing all six states, gathered for a day of business, recognition, and a featured presentation.

District Business and Leadership

The meeting opened with a formal business session, which included the election of district officers. The following nominees were unanimously elected:

  • Russell Cumbee (NH) โ€“ Candidate for New England District Vice President General
  • Alan Head (RI) โ€“ New England District Secretary
  • Hans Jackson (NH) โ€“ New England District Treasurer

These leaders will help guide the continued work and mission of the New England District.

Honoring Service and Achievement

Following lunch, attendees celebrated the accomplishments and service of several outstanding individuals:

  • Lois Hermann โ€“ Molly Pitcher Medal
  • Curtis Hermann and Scott Toutellot โ€“ Silver Henry Knox Achievement Medal
  • Russell Cumbee โ€“ Silver Roger Sherman Medal
  • William Fahey – Certificate of Appreciation and a 250th Commemorative Flag

These awards recognize exceptional dedication to the principles and mission of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Featured Presentation

Andrew McClary: New Hampshireโ€™s Forgotten Patriot

The meeting concluded with an engaging and educational presentation highlighting the life and legacy of Andrew McClary, an often-overlooked figure of the American Revolution. Though Fort McClary bears his name, his story remains unfamiliar to many.

Attendees learned about McClaryโ€™s courageous service during the early days of the Revolution and his lasting contributions to the cause of American independence.
