Preserving History • Honoring Patriots • Inspiring Future Generations
One of the primary purposes of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is:
“. . . perpetuate the memory of the men who, by their service or sacrifices during the war of the American Revolution, achieved the independence of the American People.
One of the most meaningful ways we fulfill this mission is through the placement of grave markers—tangible tributes that honor the service, courage, and sacrifices of our Revolutionary War ancestors. Each marker preserves a story, keeps a patriot’s legacy alive, and connects future generations to the founding history of our nation.

During the New Hampshire SAR’s annual George Washington Birthday Meeting on February 21, 2026, the Society recognized several compatriots whose dedication helps make our grave marking ceremonies possible. In recognition of their service, the Patriot Grave Marking Medal was presented to Compatriots: Richard Baynes, Albert Lamson, John Ginsberg, Brush Bradley, Daniel Headley, Thomas Gray and Phil Jamieson.
These compatriots each played a prominent role in the planning and execution of at least fifteen Patriot grave marking ceremonies. Their dedication, leadership, and hands‑on commitment ensure that these solemn tributes are conducted with the dignity and respect our patriot ancestors deserve.
Additionally, Henri Elliot, President, John Stark Society, NH C.A.R., also earned the Patriot Grave Marking Medal. Although he was unable to attend the ceremony, he will be formally presented with his medal at a future NHSAR meeting. His commitment to honoring Patriot ancestors—especially as a young leader—reflects the strength and promise of the next generation carrying forward this important work.
We extend our sincere appreciation to each medal recipient for helping preserve the memory of those who fought for America’s independence—and for keeping their stories alive for generations to come.
