Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

Today we remember December 7, 1941—a day that forever changed our nation. New Hampshire Sons of the American Revolution (NHSAR) honors the courage and sacrifice of those who served at Pearl Harbor and throughout World War II. Their bravery echoes the spirit of our Patriot ancestors who fought for freedom. Let us never forget.

I saw an article this morning indicating only twelve Pearl Harbor survivors are alive today. All are over 100 years old and unable to travel to Hawaii for their day of remembrance. Soon they will be gone, a sad and sobering thought for everyone who loves freedom and the sacrifices made to protect our way of life. Appreciate them while we can.

Thank you for posting this Curtis. For my family it was December 8th 1941 – when the Japanese bombed Hong Kong where my American mother and Australian father lived at the time. Dad fought for 17 days and was captured Christmas Day ’41. He was a POW in China and the island of Japan for the remainder of the war. My mother was put in an “internment camp” in Hong Kong and luckily was repatriated to the states after about 8 months of captivity. My parents generation is often referred to as “The Greatest Generation”…I’d like to think of them as the “Second” greatest generation – our Patriot ancestors WERE the greatest as they set the example for all future generations.
